Kid Friendly Dentist

Good oral health is essential for a child’s growth and development. It is important that children experience positive dental visits so that they feel comfortable in the dentist office. We want your child’s first visit to the dentist to be fun and memorable.  We encourage drop-ins and discussions with children between 1-2 years old.  These discussions will help your child feel comfortable in our dental office.

If your child is anxious, nervous or fearful of visiting the dentist for the first time, here are some tips to prepare your child for their first dental visit to our office:

• Review our website with your child to show him/her photos of our staff and our office.
• When you talk with your child about going to the dentist, do so in a positive manner.
• Introduce your child to the general idea of dental care, hygiene, and what to expect from their first dental visit through books. Visit Amazon.com or go to your local bookstore to pick up a children’s dental book that you and your child can read together about going to the dentist.  Books we recommend are: Show Me Your Smile! A Visit to the Dentist  (Dora the Explorer), The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist, Just Going to the Dentist (Little Critter).
• Talk with your child about what the dentist does and allow your child to perform a dental exam on you or on a toy.

Your child should have their first scheduled appointment between the ages of 2 and 3. During the appointment, we will talk with you about your child's oral health and hygiene.

Sealants

Prevention is the name of the game between ages 6 and 12, when baby teeth give way to permanent teeth.This is when we are able to place sealants on the permanent molars to help protect them against tooth decay.

Dental sealants are a great way to protect your child's permanent teeth from cavities.

Dental sealants are a clear and protective coating that is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant protects the tooth from getting a cavity by shielding against bacteria and plaque. Most insurance companies pay for sealants on children's teeth.

Our office offers entertainment for kids of all ages. We have books, games, iPads^®, and Wi-Fi.
